Currently, the development of wifi router is very rapid. I believe that with the development of the communication industry, router technology will also be more perfect and stable, bringing a good network environment to users.
With the continuous development of wifi router, I have studied the development of routers under the ALL IP trend, and share it with you here, hoping to be useful to you. The multi-service bearer of IP networks has the advantage of unified protocols and interfaces, which can rapidly expand business, simplify network layers, reduce construction, operation and maintenance, and business marketing service costs, and simplify customer relationship management. Therefore, a unified IP bearer network will be able to support a greater business model economy.
In order to adapt to this change, traditional IP bearer networks must be transformed to achieve the goal of multi service bearer. Router equipment, as the main equipment of IP networks, has an important impact on national security, industrial development, and social information construction due to its security, availability, and reliability.
Router Devices in the Changing Trend of IP Networks
Due to the widespread use of IP networks in recent years and the new demand for multi-service bearer in IP networks, router devices have the following new development trends.
Interface tends to be high-speed
At the beginning of design, a major role of router equipment is to adapt to high-speed local area networks and low-speed wide area networks. With the development of technology, router devices have become the core devices of IP networks. Gradually attach importance to safety issues. Network security mainly includes the security of the network itself, the security of network service provision, the security of network user information, and the control of harmful information. As the main network equipment, router equipment has a direct relationship with network security, and can also play a certain role in ensuring the information security of network users.
Initially, router equipment safety was primarily concerned with the reliability of network equipment itself, the backup of important components, the electrical characteristics of network equipment, and the performance indicators of network equipment. With the growth of the scale of the Internet and the progress of technology, network security guarantees have new requirements for router equipment. At the control level, security should be ensured in terms of control information access control, control information authentication, control information availability, control information non repudiation, control information communication security, and control information integrity and privacy. At the management level, safety should be ensured in all aspects of managing the above requirements. On the data plane, security should be ensured in terms of resource availability to ensure that authorized users do not experience network unavailability due to network traffic shocks. Router devices need increasingly high-speed interfaces to construct broadband backbone networks. Currently, commercial routers have reached 40Gbit/s, and laboratories have exceeded 100Gbit/s, approaching the limit of electrical signal processing.
Switching capacity tends to be massive and clustered
With the rapid development of information technology, the services carried by communication networks are becoming increasingly rich, especially the rapid growth of IPTV, mobile voice, P2P and other services, and the demand for bandwidth in backbone networks is increasing. In the past few years, the annual growth rate of trunk traffic and bandwidth demand in China has exceeded 200%, and it is expected that the annual growth rate in the next few years will still be as high as about 100%. Therefore, IP backbone networks are facing the pressure of frequent upgrades and capacity expansion, and scalability has become an important bottleneck for sustainable development.
The most critical issue in the scalability of IP backbone networks is the expansion of the capacity of core router devices. Due to the rapid growth of backbone network services, the IP network infrastructure needs to be comprehensively upgraded every two years or so. Operators can no longer tolerate such frequent network upgrades, and there is an urgent need for a new generation of sustainable development of ultra large capacity routers. This “sustainability” is mainly reflected in two aspects: first, capacity sustainability: The system capacity can be continuously and smoothly upgraded to meet the business growth needs of operators for a considerable period of time in the future; second, hardware sustainability: Capacity upgrades do not require the replacement of existing equipment, and all hardware can be used continuously, minimizing the impact of upgrades on the business.
